There is an amazing mix of new and old culture, communism,old tradition and new markets. wow, is all i can say. the group i am with is really great, too! well, on our second day, i have not done too mucy shopping-- lots moreto go. the lectures we ahve been going to have been very interesting, as well. love you all! --ingrid ps. the food here is not much different than any chinese place--even in the non tourist areas. i think it will change in chengdu and xi'an!
